St. Joseph's Names Chief Operating Officer

Joseph Braunscheidel will become St. Joseph's Chief Operating Officer on August 1, 2008 succeeding Albert Barto who is retiring after several years of service at Hospital.

Sister Marie Castagnaro, SSJ, St. Joseph's President/CEO made today's announcement with mixed emotions. " Al has served St. Joseph's in a variety of administrative capacities for St. Joseph's the past 33 years and his contributions will be missed by all of us who have had the pleasure of working with him during his long tenure. We wish him and his wife Cheryl all the best as they enter their new phase of life's journey," said Sister Castagnaro.

"At the same time I am very pleased to have someone with Joe's extensive background in healthcare as part of our team here at St. Joseph's."

Braunscheidel is a 1986 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Food Management. Following graduation he served for nine years as Food Service Director at several health care facilities with the Marriott Corporation. In 1997 Braunscheidel joined St. Joseph's as Director of Food Service and Environmental Services. After receiving his Master's Degree in Management from Keuka College in 2005, Braunscheidel accepted the position of Senior Director of Operational Services in April 2006 and in July of 2007 was promoted to his current position of Vice-President of Operational Services.
