St. Joseph's nurses recognized

Two St. Joseph's nurses were recently inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Mary Vosburgh, BSN, RN, St. Joseph's Vice President of Nursing and Bonnie Morris, RN, MS, St. Joseph's Director of Acute Care Rehabilitation officially became members of the Elmira College Rho Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International in a special ceremony in late April.

Sigma Theta Tau International's mission calls for providing leadership and scholarship in practice, education and research to enhance the health of all People. Sigma Theta Tau supports the learning and professional development of its members who strive to improve nursing care worldwide.

Prior to becoming Vice President of Nursing in September 2008 Mrs. Vosburgh previously spent three years as Corning Hospital's Director of Nursing for the ICU, Medical, Surgical Services. Prior to her time at Corning Hospital Mrs. Vosburgh worked at St. Joseph's from 1983 - 2005 in a variety of staff and management positions including her role as Unit Director for the Hospital's D3 Medical/Palliative Care/Oncology/Detox Unit. Mrs. Vosburgh has her Diploma Degree in Nursing from St. Joseph's School of Nursing as well as her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Keuka College. She is a member of St. Joseph's Nursing Alumni along with serving as an Advisory Board Member for the Elmira Business Institute. Mrs. Vosburgh and her husband, William, live in Pine City. Their family includes three sons, Brandon, Wyatt, Owen and a daughter in law, Sarah.

Mrs. Morris, who joined St. Joseph's in 2005, received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Corning Community College, BSN from Elmira College and MS in Nursing from Syracuse University. She also serves as Nursing Clinical Instructor of Elmira College and is very involved in several community activities such as serving as the Basketball Cheerleading Coach for Athens Area High School. Mrs. Morris and her husband live in Athens, PA. Their family includes their two adult sons, Jamey and Scott, along with five grandchildren.
