One Performance Only! December 11, 2008; St. Joseph's Centennial Gift to the Community
The closing act on St. Joseph's Centennial Celebration year will be Neil Berg's widely acclaimed 100 Years of Broadway, a musical revue of Broadway's most celebrated shows. The free community performance sponsored by St. Joseph's, features a dazzling cast of five Broadway stars accompanied by an all-star New York band is coming to The Clemens Center on Thursday, December 11, 2008 for an 8:00 p.m. curtain time. As St. Joseph's Centennial Gift to the community free Tickets for 100 Years of Broadway will be available to the community, for as long as they last, on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning November 17, 2008. To receive two free general admission tickets individuals must appear in person at the Clemens Center box office, which is open Monday through Friday from 11:30 am - 5:30 p.m. No telephone or online orders will be accepted for this performance.
Sister Marie Castagnaro, SSJ, President/CEO of St. Joseph's Hospital said 100 Years of Broadway will be a fitting conclusion to St. Joseph's year-long Centennial Celebration. "It has been a truly a year to remember for St. Joseph's as we reflected on our history as well as look forward to our next 100 years," said Sister Castagnaro.
"We couldn't think of a better way to complete our Centennial events than to say thank you to the community with this free performance of 100 Years of Broadway."
According to San Francisco's KABC radio theater critic, Jerry Friedman, "This revue features some of the best songs from the best Broadway shows, all sung by some of the most talented performers working today singing many of the hit songs that they have sung on Broadway."
100 Years of Broadway recreates the greatest moments from the finest shows of the century featuring the actual stars of shows such as The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Jekyll & Hyde. These amazing performers light up the stage with songs from the hit shows in which they starred. Neil Berg presents brilliantly revived arrangements of Broadway classics as well as thrilling numbers from Broadway's newest hit shows.
Past productions of this popular show have featured Betty Buckley, Liz Callaway, Ben Vereen, and Alex Santoriello among others. Along with musical director and pianist Neil Berg, the production will feature Steve Blanchard (West Side Story), Rob Evan (Jekyll & Hyde), Carter Calvert (Cats), Rita Harvey (Phantom of the Opera), and Danny Zolli (Jesus Christ Superstar).
Cast is subject to change based upon possible Broadway and touring developments.
