St. Joseph's selects TeamHealth to provide emergency department services


St. Joseph's Hospital is partnering with TeamHealth, one of the nation's leading providers of Emergency Department staffing and management services. The partnership demonstrates St. Joseph's commitment to providing exceptional emergency medical care to the community of Elmira. Under this arrangement, TeamHealth will assist the hospital in providing quality emergency physicians and enhancing numerous efficiencies that will result in improved patient and staff satisfaction. TeamHealth will begin providing services at St. Joseph's in early June.

"Because of our desire to provide improved quality patient care that is aligned with the patient volume growth of our Emergency Department, we examined Emergency Department provider options," said Joseph Braunscheidel, St. Joseph's Chief Operating Officer. "We selected TeamHealth for its proven reputation to provide top quality medical leadership, continuing education for medical staff, collaborative support of nursing and medical staff, and programs and tools to sustain patient satisfaction."

Braunscheidel added that physicians Timothy Bernett, MD, Marc Immerman, MD, Stephen Manganaro, MD, and Michael Shreck, MD, who have provided emergency medicine services in St. Joseph's Emergency Department for several years, will join TeamHealth.

For 31 years, TeamHealth has worked with closely with large and small Emergency Departments across the country enabling them to develop a vast network of experience and best practices, resulting in improvements in patient safety, customer service, and patient waiting times. Providing 24-hour emergency care to approximately 15,000 patients annually, St. Joseph's Emergency Department is committed to enhancing the level of emergency care it provides to its patients.
