St. Joseph's nurse receives scholarship

St. Joseph's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse Helen Peregrim will receive the 2009 - 2010 Leo E. Considine Trust Fund Scholarship. The monetary award from the scholarship goes to a selected student nurse or nurse to assist the individual with those costs associated with educational advancement. The will of Leo E. Considine established the trust for a "worthy and deserving nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital" to be nominated annually to receive a scholarship award.

Employed at St. Joseph's since 1991, Ms. Peregrim is currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Nursing degree through Keuka College. Toni Shields, St. Joseph's ICU Director believes that Ms. Peregrim was a great choice. "Because of her deep commitment to the nursing profession Helen is a most deserving award recipient," said Ms. Shields.

Certified as a Critical Care Nurse (CCN), Ms. Peregrim is the designated charge nurse for the ICU night shift. Ms. Peregrim, married with four children, lives in Big Flats, New York
