Infection Control/Hospital Emergency Preparedness Coordinator named at St. Joseph's


Bernadette Josbeno-Oakes, RN was recently named as St. Joseph's Hospital's Infection Control and Hospital Emergency Management Coordinator. In her position at St. Joseph's, Ms. Josbeno-Oakes' duties include infection reporting and clinical support in treating patients with infections. She's also responsible for emergency management, planning, and education at the Hospital.

Ms. Josbeno-Oakes, a graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing, has continued her education through Empire State College and Alfred University. An employee of St. Joseph's for 40 years, Ms. Oakes has worked as a Registered Nurse in the Hospital's Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. Before accepting the position of Infection Control/Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Ms. Oakes held the position of Performance Improvement Coordinator.

Among her numerous community activities include serving as Vice Chair of the Southern Tier Emergency Management Services Council (STREMS), a Board of Director for Emergency Medical Services Training Administration and Training (EMSTAR), and a member of the Tri-County Critical Incident Stress Management Team.

Ms. Josbeno-Oakes, who lives in Elmira, is the mother of four adult children and several grandchildren.
