Kim J. Panosian, M.D. recently was named as the full-time Chief Medical Officer for St. Joseph's Hospital where she will oversee the Hospital's Office of Physician Services. Among Dr. Panosian's responsibilities include the establishment of common goals and objectives to physicians and St. Joseph's that will lead to increased alignment between the Hospital and the physicians.
Sister Marie Castagnaro, SSJ, St. Joseph's President/CEO said Dr. Panosian's responsibilities as Chief Medical Officer will also include the mission of physician advocacy and accountability. "It is Dr. Panosian's belief that with this type of collaboration, both the physicians and St. Joseph's performance will be optimized," said Sister Castagnaro.
Dr. Panosian graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed her Residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology from the Yale-New Haven Medical Center. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with additional subspecialty boards in Forensic Pathology.
From 1988 - 2006 Dr. Panosian practiced as a general pathologist at St. Joseph's and at other local - regional hospitals. In 2006 she assumed the role of St. Joseph's Vice President of Medical Affairs. During her career Dr. Panosian also served as the Medical Examiner for Chemung County and Deputy Medical Examiner for Monroe County.
Dr. Panosian is a member of the American College of Physician Executives, Chemung County Medical Society, Medical Society of the State of New York, American Medical Association, College of American Pathologists, and the National Association of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Panosian lives in Elmira with her husband David and their four children - Jill, Jennifer, Jeffrey, and Joseph.
