St. Joseph's to Host Hospice Foundation of America's 15th Annual Teleconference

The Hospice Foundation's 15th Annual National Bereavement Teleconference, Living With Griefâ : Children and Adolescents," will be broadcast on Wednesday, April 16 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm EDT from St. Joseph's Cusick Meeting Room. The teleconference, moderated by Frank Sesno, Professor of Media and Public Affairs at The George Washington University and Special Correspondent with CNN, will focus on the experience of grieving children and adolescents and the ways that all hospice professionals, educators and counselors, parents, social workers, physicians, grief counselors, funeral directors, and clergy can best support these populations as they cope with loss and grief.

Deacon George Welch, St. Joseph's Chaplain, said the Hospital's Pastoral Care Department has hosted this teleconference each year. "The hospice teleconferences truly meet St. Joseph's mission of caring for our patients in body, mind, and spirit," said Deacon Welch. "With the focus of this year's teleconference on children and adolescents this educational session should benefit people of all ages in our community."

The program and accompanying book written by child and adolescent grief experts will examine the newest theories and practices, and as always, will combine academic research with hands-on ideas for use in hospice support groups and other settings.

Continuing Education credits are available for a wide range of professions. Health care professionals, educators, clergy and others concerned with the effects of this issue should contact St. Joseph's Pastoral Care Department at (607) 733-6541, extension 425 for details.
