Visitor Information
 
Welcome to all who are visiting a friend or family member here at St. Joseph's Hospital. Your visit can give cheer and comfort to a patient's hospital stay, providing, of course, that both the patient and physician allow visitors.
 
Visiting Hours:
Visitors are welcome and are an important part of patient care. To speed your family member or friend's recovery, please help us with the following visiting hours and guidelines:

  • Nursing Units, D2 & D3: 1:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Intensive Care (ICU): 11:00 - 2:00 p.m. & 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. (Because of the high level of care required, visits are limited to immediate family above age 14 only).
  • Rehabilitation Areas: Monday through Friday: 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.; Weekends and Holidays: 1:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Skilled Nursing Facilities A3 & SNF II (5th floor): 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Behavioral Science Unit (BSU): Monday - Friday: 9:00am - 9:45am & 7:00pm - 8:00pm.  Weekends and Holidays: 1:00pm - 2:00pm & 7:00pm - 8:00pm. (Limit of two visitors per patient). A specific policy will be given to patients and families.
  • Alcohol Rehabilitation Unit: Due to the stringent confidentiality and rehabilitative procedures required in this unit, visiting hours is limited. Specific information regarding our visitation policies is provided to all who are admitted.
     
    Reminders:
  • Please limit visitors to 2 at a time. Children under 14 years old need permission from the nurse. For the child's health and safety, visits should be time limited, well supervised and discussed with the nurses in advance of the visit.
  • In order to reduce the patient's risk of further illness, please do not visit a patient if you have a cold or exhibit other illness symptoms.
  • One parent may stay with a child under 15 years of age during the night, if desired. A chair or cot may be available depending on the type of room the patient is in.
  • Condition Reports: One family spokesman should contact 733-6541 and identify the relationship to the patient. Information will be limited, unless identity can be established. All other family members and friends should try to contact the family spokesperson, or the patient first, if possible.
  • Food should not be brought in for patients, unless approved by the nurse.
  • In a semi-private room, please be considerate of the other patient.

St. Joseph's Out-Patient Primary Care Offices:

The Atrium Dining Room:
All those visiting St. Joseph's are welcome to visit our Atrium Dining Room, located on the first floor above the main lobby. Whether you are hungry for a full meal or a light snack, you will always find something good to eat at reasonable prices.
Doughnuts, coffee, bagels, etc. are available until lunch begins. Between lunch and dinner hours, the Deli is open for made-to-order sandwiches, deserts and fruits. The Atrium is open from 6:30 a.m. until 6:15 p.m. for food service.

The Gift Shop:
Located in the main visitor's lobby, the Gift Shop is open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays, subject to volunteer availability. The Gift Shop has cards, snacks, gifts, magazines, paperback books, newspapers, jewelry and toiletries. Postage stamps are on sale on a limited basis. The Gift Shop is staffed by our volunteers. It's closed on Holidays.

Vending Machines:
During off-hours, vending machines are filled with foods, and a microwave is available. The vending area is located in the hall near the Atrium exit on the first floor between the beige and brown elevators. The refrigerated soups and sandwiches are made fresh daily by our Dietary staff.
