Sharps Policy

St. Joseph's Hospital wishes to remind the community that it has a policy for accepting household "sharps." According to the New York State Department of Health, the term "sharps" includes lancets, needles, and syringes.

Individuals should call St. Joseph's at 607-733-6541, ext. 333 or ext. 230 to coordinate a day and time when they can deliver the "sharps" to the Hospital.

St. Joseph's can only accept "sharps" that are delivered in an impervious container with a screw top. For example, a container that is shatter proof, leak proof, and puncture resistant, such as a clorox bottle or detergent containers are acceptable, while plastic milk containers are not allowed.
