Computerized Tomography
It's a special kind of X-ray that can produce pictures of a cross section of your body or any of its parts. In fact, tomography comes from the Greek word tomos, meaning slice or section, and graphia, meaning recording. Thus, tomography is a recording of a slice or section.
Computerized Tomography (CT) is used for many diagnostic procedures:
- Head scans to rule out blood clots, enlarged ventricles, abnormalities in nerves and muscles of the eye
- Body scans help to diagnose enlarged lynph nodes, pancreatic disease, back problems, and lung cancer
